An article written long ago about life for women on the river stated, "she too, must rough it." That is exactly what women of the Mississippi River did as they shaped the history and culture of the river as we know it today. Embark on a naturalist-led snowshoe or hike along the Mississippi as you hear stories of the first women to live along the river bank, from two women who ventured down the entire length of the river with a small kitten as a sidekick, to the first woman licensed steamboat master. All snowshoeing abilities are welcome. Snowshoes provided or bring your own and enjoy a hot beverage afterwards. Reservations required by February 2.
