Located just two blocks off Lyndale Ave., Fuller Park is a quaint and delightful neighborhood retreat. Spanning one-half block, the 2.1-acre park hosts as much activity as its larger counterparts. There's a strong sense of community in and around Fuller Park so don’t be shy. Introduce yourself to the neighbors; they love to engage in friendly conversation.
Fuller Park operates year-round with many popular activities. In spring visit the beautiful garden. On hot summer days put on your bathing suits and bring the kids for a cool time in the wading pool. The park doesn’t hibernate in the winter. Go for a walk in the snow or build a snowman for everyone to admire. Stop by the recreation center throughout the year to check out all we have to offer. Our friendly staff will let you know what’s going on.
Fuller Park was built on land where Fuller Elementary School once stood. After the school was torn down the community expressed their wish for a neighborhood park. In 1975 work began to convert the land into Fuller Park. In 1977 the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board acquired the land and later that year installed walkways and improved the parkways. In 1992 trees were planted and the next year the pay parking lot and park site were redeveloped with the addition of new playground equipment.
The park and former elementary school were named in honor of Margaret Fuller. Fuller was an American feminist, poet, essayist, journalist and educator during the first half of the 19th century.
