The mission of the MPCA is to work with Minnesotans to protect, conserve and improve our environment and enhance our quality of life. Read this page for an overview of the MPCA’s vision for a clean and healthy environment in Minnesota.
Many ideas and concepts from the former Office of Environmental Assistance are incorporated into this strategic plan. It includes a number of changes, but some of the most important are:
* The MPCA mission now includes conservation as well as protection and improvement. The agency is committed to making sure our environmental resources are used wisely, and conservation is an important element of stewardship.
* The agency’s guiding principles now include the recognition that integration of environmental, social and economic sciences is critical in policy and problem-solving.
* Objectives have been added to encourage Minnesotans to take responsibility for doing their share to protect our environment. This includes goals focusing on pollution prevention and individual responsibility.
