Bob & Vicky Wootton: Bob Wootton, “the man behind the man in black,” played lead guitar for Johhny Cash from 1968-1998. His first album recorded and released with Cash in 1969 was “live at San Quentin”. Listen closely and you’ll hear one of the inmates yell “Where’s Luther, Johnny?” Cash explains that Luther Perkins had passed away a few months before, and that a new guitar player had joined the group. That man was Bob Wootton. Bob will be joined by his wife Vicky who is a member of "The Carter Family" and tours with Bob and their daughter as "The Tennesee Three". www.tennesseethree.com
The Dovetailers: Comprised of husband and wife team, Brandon & Heather Sampson. Brandon is the lead of Rochester's Six Mile Grove. Six Mile Grove yields the energy of American rock and the simplicity of classic country music, delivered with pure farm boy charm. With roots generations deep in the cornfields of southern Minnesota, the band Six Mile Grove continues to flourish like a well tended crop. Six Mile Grove was founded in 1997 in Lyle, MN (population 500) by brothers Brandon and Brian Sampson, Barry Nelson and Dezi Wallace. SMG has celebrated 5 albums and 11 years of playing together. Their forthcoming album “Steel Mule,” reflects upon “coming of age” themes: marriage, parenthood, family, and mortality. As with their earlier albums, “Steel Mule” continues to cultivate homage to the humble life of small town farmers and their families, and the inevitable effects of progress, as children grow up and move away to find their own destinies. Singer/Songwriter Brandon Sampson shares “This album is about growing up and becoming a man. The songs talk about how you can make a mark on this world through your family. When you look at your son, you see your legacy. The only way to become immortal is to let those seeds spread.” www.sixmilegrove.com
The Sudden Lovelys: The boy writes poetry, plays his guitar and sings. He sits on an old steamer trunk atop a bicycle seat and stomps his foot. He stomps so hard his right leg is larger than his left. The girl has a voice like the angels. She also adds a unique brand of hand percussion, though troubles tend to disappear when she sings. Together they're wonderfully unpredictable. Quiet pretty songs, coupled with those that will bite your head off is a common theme. www.thesuddenlovelys.com
